Class of 2024 Dance Majors Travel to NYC, LA and Las Vegas for Professional Development

The senior dance class of 2024 had amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences in New York City, Los Angeles and Las Vegas over winter break. Eight senior dancers traveled to NYC from Dec. 16, through Dec. 23, and took classes from more than 16 teachers and saw shows like “Back to the Future” and the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular.” Eleven senior dancers traveled to Los Angeles and Las Vegas from Jan. 4, through Jan. 13, and took classes from more than 23 teachers and also got to see shows like Cirque du Soleil’s “O.” In all cities, the dancers got to spend time with Shenandoah Conservatory dance alumni, including Christine West ’22 (Bachelor of Arts in Dance, Bachelor of Arts in Spanish), Claudia Boutwell ’22 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance), Dakota Matos ’22 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) and Dani Maloney ’17 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance), getting to know what life would be like living in each of those cities and got to spend valuable time networking and making connections.

Some notable classes to point out:

  • Contemporary class with Princess Grace Award winner, Maleek Washington at Steps on Broadway in NYC
  • Masterclass with Tyce D’iorio, notable “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographer at TMilly Studio in LA
  • Jazz funk class with Brandi Chun, winning choreographer of Netflix’s “Dance 100” at TMilly Studio in LA
  • Contemporary class and Q&A session with Dani Maloney ’17 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) in Las Vegas at Millennium Dance Complex LV
