Business School Establishes Mu Sigma Lambda Chapter

Co-Ed Fraternity Empowers Future Sports Industry Leaders With Tools For Success

The School of Business announces the creation of a Shenandoah University chapter of Mu Sigma Lambda (MSL), a national co-educational fraternity dedicated to shaping future leaders in the sports industry. The new fraternity will offer students a robust network for bridging the gaps between academic and experiential learning and the dynamic world of sports.

It’s about the company we keep. This new fraternity – with only eight university chapters nationwide – fosters an environment where students can build invaluable relationships and grow as professionals in the sports industry.”

Brian Wigley, Ed.D., department chair of sport and entertainment and professor of sport management

Super Bowl LVII-2023Shenandoah joins a prestigious group of universities renowned for their top-tier sports management programs including Syracuse University, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Florida, The University of Georgia, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Wake Forest University, and West Virginia University. These institutions also boast national reputations for excellence in sports communications. With this affiliation, Shenandoah students can benefit from a fraternal network that spans the country.

Shenandoah University has long been a leader in sport management, providing students with unique experiential learning opportunities including working the NFL Fan Experience at Super Bowl LVII and LVIII, along with visiting professional industry leaders in each host city; working at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea; volunteering for Preseason NFL Games, and more. These experiences give Shenandoah students a competitive edge while enhancing their employability.

Our alumni network is strong and growing. This professional fraternity is another tool to help our graduates find employment within the sports industry. It takes what we’ve already accomplished in our Sports Business Association up a notch, expanding our professional network.”
