Matthew Neal ’24 (Bachelor of Music in Music Production & Recording Technology) started his internship at Spectrum Sound Inc. in June. He was hired by the company during his internship because of his skills and work ethic. Neal soon was asked by the company to go on tour as the monitor engineer for American singer-songwriter Kim Walker-Smith.
“For the past few months I’ve been living in Nashville working as an audio engineer for Spectrum Sound and a handful of venues, as well as playing as a freelance musician,” said Neal. “I’m currently on tour as the monitor engineer for Kim Walker-Smith, who is performing at venues across the country. I’m loving my work, loving Nashville, and happy to be doing what I worked for at SU.”
While at Shenandoah University, Neal played in various ensembles as a percussionist and he also played many other instruments, such as guitar and bass.
“It’s rewarding seeing SU students applying the knowledge skills they learned while at SU to do something they love,” said Director and Professor of Music Production & Recording Technology Golder O’Neill ’92, M.M.E.
