Curenton and Flute Ensemble Participate in NFA’s Annual Convention

Assistant Professor of Flute Julietta Curenton, D.M.A., and the Shenandoah Conservatory Flute Ensemble traveled to the National Flute Association’s 53rd annual convention held in Atlanta, Georgia, this month. Dr. Curenton premiered Dr. James Lee’s III’s  “Nijji Memories” Concerto, a work based on Native American tribal history. Dr. Lee is the composer-in-residence for the Baltimore Symphony. The Flute Ensemble was also honored to be chosen to perform in the festival lobby concert series.

“We had a magnificent time and hope to return for the convention in Portland, Oregon,” said Dr. Curenton.

The Shenandoah Conservatory Flute Ensemble also had the opportunity to hear renowned Carol Wincenc in concert along with her past students who all became college professors.
