Shenandoah Conservatory invites high school dance students (including rising sophomores through rising first year college students) from throughout the region to apply for our annual Shenandoah Summer Dance Intensive (SSDI)! Study with Shenandoah’s renowned dance faculty and expand your artistry in a variety of dance styles for pre-professional performance preparation. The week culminates in an informal final performance of two repertory works choreographed by Shenandoah Conservatory dance faculty members.

The deadline to apply for the 2026 Shenandoah Summer Dance Intensive is Friday, March 27, 2026. Applicants will receive notification of their acceptance by Friday, April 10, 2026. Payment or cancellation is due by Friday, May 8, 2026.

Cost

The cost to participate in the 2026 Shenandoah Summer Dance Intensive is $1,100 per participant. Total cost includes tuition, meals, room and board.

More information regarding payment processing will be sent upon acceptance into the program.

Any cancellation requests made before June 1, 2026 will qualify for a partial refund. No refunds will be given after June 1. For any last-minute cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (sickness, injury, or family emergency), please contact us to discuss options.

Merit & Need-based Scholarships

The Shenandoah Summer Dance Intensive is able to award a limited number of partial-tuition scholarships to festival participants with financial need who demonstrate a high level of commitment, creativity and technical/performance ability. Room and board costs are the responsibility of the student in most cases.

The applicant must have already filled out the application for the 2026 SSDI in order to be considered. Deadline to complete the scholarship application is March 27, 2026; notification of award by April 10, 2026. Remaining payment for tuition is due by May 8, 2026. Upon admission, you will be contacted regarding the payment process.
