Apply for a Virginia Annual Conference Planters Greenhouse Microgrant!
April 11, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - May 1, 2023 @ 5:00 pm
Apply for a Virginia Annual Conference Planters Greenhouse Microgrant! Apply for a Virginia Annual Conference Planters Greenhouse Microgrant ($500-$1000)! Deadline: May 1! Do you have an idea that you think will make the world, the nation, and/or your community a better place? The Virginia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is sponsoring Planters Greenhouse, a micro grant process to help college students cultivate BIG dreams by investing funding, training, mentoring, and a community of support. This experience invites students to use their gifts and creativity in a way that makes it safe for them to fail and succeed, and to learn from both. Students involved in a Virginia Annual Conference-supported University (such as Shenandoah University) are invited to develop the idea for a project that will help them practice their purpose with passion. Those who are selected from across the commonwealth will participate in an overnight retreat this summer to connect with each other and learn from coaches and experts about project design and implementation. They will have the full 2023-2024 academic year to implement their project with support from a one-on-one coach who they will meet with (in-person or on Zoom) on a monthly basis to check in and provide encouragement and feedback. THIS APPLICATION IS OPEN TO ALL SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, REGARDLESS OF FAITH BACKGROUND (or lack thereof), AND PROJECT IDEAS DO NOT NEED TO BE FAITH-BASED. For more information and to request the short application link, contact Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Development and Outreach, Ian Urriola at iurriola@su.edu before the application deadline of May 1.
