Young Scholars Literary Symposium
February 21 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Explore the theme of “Mysteries and Mayhem” at the fourth annual Young Scholars Literary Symposium (YSLS) on Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon-5 p.m. in Henkel Hall. Hosted by the English department and supported by the Willa Cather Endowment, the program features hybrid breakout panels with in-person, national and international presenters discussing works ranging from Edgar Allan Poe to HBO’s “The Chair Company.” The event includes insights from a real-life detective and true-crime podcaster, as well as creative workshops on “making a monster” and collaborative storytelling led by students Katelyn Garback and Lily Kilduff. Participants can also test their skills in a life-size “Clue” escape room. The symposium concludes with a presentation by alumna Heidi Christopher ’12, author of the psychological thriller “Lies the Dirt Keeps.” Beyond the Classroom (BTC) credit is available. Early-bird tickets are $25, and students may request a fee waiver by emailing the committee. Register using this Google Form.
