Hi, I’m Buzzy D. Hornet!
As Shenandoah University’s mascot, I love EVERYTHING Shenandoah!
If a team needs to be cheered on, I’m there! If an event’s going on anywhere on campus, I’ll do my best to buzz on by to see my favorite people: Shenandoah’s students!
It’s so much fun to be at any of our Shenandoah locations, from Winchester to Loudoun, and to head around the world with Shenandoah students, faculty and staff!
And I’ve had the chance to appear on film with my favorite people, too, in my favorite places at my favorite times of the year! (I’ll tell you a secret: any time I can spend some time with my Shenandoah friends is my favorite time of the year.)
The Buzzing
In 2016, the current version of Buzzy was born. Before then, Buzzy was different… and now he’s back to haunt campus.
Shenandoah’s Holiday Buzz
Wherever you call home for the holidays, you’re always part of the Shenandoah family.

EIMOC Mascot Challenge
Exercise is Medicine® On Campus (EIM-OC) launched a Mascot Challenge inviting registered campuses to submit creative videos of their mascots promoting physical activity.
Admittedly, I’ve sported a few different looks over the years. (And come on, haven’t we all?)
And, I have even been cast into bronze — this one could last a while… I heard 750 years…
And even though I’m a Hornet now, the Shenandoah hive once included other wasps, too! Back in the 1920s, Shenandoah had a women’s basketball team known as the “Yellow Jackets,” believe it, or not!
But these days, decked out in my red and blue, I’m happy to say everyone at Shenandoah is a Hornet, just like me! And I couldn’t be prouder to represent my Shenandoah family.
