1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how apps developed by the Shenandoah Center for Immersive Learning (SCiL or Shenandoah) at Shenandoah University (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handle information.

Scope: This Privacy Policy applies only to apps developed by SCiL for the Meta Quest platform. It does not apply to other websites, services, or platforms operated by third parties.

Our application does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect or process any personal data, including but not limited to:

  • Names or contact details
  • Account or login information
  • Location data
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Device or advertising identifiers

Our apps also do not use cookies or tracking technologies.

Note: Meta Platforms, Inc. acts as a separate data controller for any personal data it processes through its own services. Please refer to the Meta Privacy Policy for details.

3. SDKs and Third-Party Services

Our apps use the Meta XR SDK and related development tools only to provide core VR functionality and compatibility with Meta Quest devices. These SDKs operate locally on your device and are not used by us to access, collect, or transmit personal information.

4. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or process any personal data from anyone, including children under 16 (or the relevant age under local law). Since no data is collected, there is no risk of misuse or disclosure of minors’ data.

If you believe a child has provided personal data outside of the app (e.g., by contacting us directly), please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

5. Data Sharing and Transfers

Because we do not collect any personal data, no data is shared, sold, or transferred to any third parties, within or outside your country or region. This means we comply by default with CCPA/CPRA “Do Not Sell or Share” requirements and GDPR data transfer rules.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Although we do not collect data, we acknowledge your rights under privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA (California), and other applicable regulations, including:

  • The right to know what personal information is collected (none in our case)
  • The right to request deletion (nothing to delete)
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

If you have any concerns or questions, you may contact us at scil@su.edu.

7. Security

Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no risk of unauthorized access, loss, or misuse of your information.

However, while no personal data is stored, Shenandoah’s Apps follow standard platform security practices.

8. Changes to this Policy

If our apps’ functionality changes to include data collection in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and comply with all relevant privacy laws and platform requirements.

We will notify users of significant changes by updating this policy in the app or via our website.
