More About the Director

Eric has returned to the Director position after he served as Director of General Education from 2005-2009. During his first tenure, Eric oversaw the initial reworking of the General Education program and its SACS review process.  Eric then served on the General Education committee during the major revitalization of the curriculum under the Directorship of Amy Sarch. Eric also worked with Amy to create Shenandoah University’s Town Hall program and remains the Faculty Coordinator of that program.
Eric is passionate about the role that general education and a common curriculum play within a university.  He also works extensively on teaching and learning in higher education.  This work includes publications on flipped learning and the hybrid delivery method, along with running workshops on a wide range of issues including the case study method, alternative means of grading, and online learning. Eric also works closely with Shenandoah’s Transformative Teaching and Learning staff, serving on their advisory board and as Lead TTL Fellow.
