Lifelong learners of all ages have the chance to inquire about fall 2015 classes offered through Shenandoah University’s Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at an open house event on Friday, Aug. 21, in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room on the university’s main campus. The 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. event is free and open to the public.
The open house will feature a keynote address by Professor Emeritus of Conducting James Laster, D.M., a well-known actor, composer, professor and educator. Robert Stiefel, a Department of Energy retiree and lifelong learner, will also speak. Stiefel and his wife are very active in the community.
Laster and Stiefel will address the importance of the lifelong learning experiences offered at Shenandoah University. A variety of special instructors who will teach new and challenging classes this fall will also be introduced at the event.
During the open house, many new and former instructors will be at individual tables, sharing information about their classes and answering questions specific to the lifelong learning experience at Shenandoah. As attendees visit each of the tables, they can speak with instructors, meet new friends and former lifelong learning participants, decide on a class they’d like to register for and be the first to sign up. CLL Advisory Council members will be available to answer questions as well.
Terry Tucker of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, will provide the evening’s musical entertainment. The folk song writer, singer and instrumentalist will also speak with those who wish to learn about the autoharp or take her class this fall.
