The Shenandoah University Libraries consist of the Alson H. Smith, Jr. Library, which is the main library facility for the university, and the branch Health Sciences Library located in the Health Professions Building on the grounds of the Winchester Medical Center.

Library facilities include the Media Center, the University and EUB Archives, and the Children’s Literature Center.

Current total holdings number more than 275,000 items including 131,000 books and bound journals, 13,000 recordings, 16,000 scores, 1,500 videotapes, and 115,000 ERIC documents. The university has access to more than 32,000 print and electronic journals contained in more than 85 Internet-accessible databases. Virtual journals are in excess of 500,000 volume-equivalents.

Library services include materials borrowing and course reserves, reference and instruction, interlibrary loans, and document delivery.

While the Library’s primary constituency is the students and faculty of the university, the library facilities, including the Media Center, are open to the general public.
