Dual Degree Doctor of Athletic Training/Master of Public Health

The Master Of Athletic Training/Master Of Public Health dual degree program creates highly qualified health professionals with the competencies to succeed in a rapidly evolving health system. This program prepares students to enter a wide range of Athletic Training and Public Health positions such as population or clinical research, health administration leadership, and community health promotion.

How to Apply

During your first semester in the AT program, apply to the Master of Public Health program using the dual degree AT/Public Health application.

  • On the “Application Information” tab select: “I am a current student”
  • Select your current program of study: “Athletic Training (MS) Program”
  • Select the new dual degree program to which you are applying: “Public Health (MPH)”
  • Select start term: “Fall 2025” 
  • Complete the rest of the application form and submit. 

Application Steps & Program Prerequisites

Shenandoah operates on a rolling admissions process, which means that we start interviewing applicants as soon as we have a complete file. It may take up to 8 weeks for ATCAS to forward your file to us. Therefore, the sooner you submit your application and required paperwork, the better your chances of being interviewed and/or accepted.

  • Full-time student status in good academic and professional standing in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program.
  • Submission of the dual degree Master of Public Health (MPH) application which includes the following:
    • Graduate Application Form (GMAT/GRE not required)
    • Personal statement that describes the applicant’s education experience, and professional career objectives (1500 word maximum).
    • Resume/C.V.
  • Potential interview with the MPH Admissions Committee.
  • Current MSAT students apply in first semester and need to be in good academic standing.
  • Admitted students enroll in PH 501 in first semester.
