Benefits of Joining the Honors Program

The Honors Program is designed to enhance your undergraduate education through coursework and opportunities developed just for you.

Some benefits of joining the Shenandoah University Honors Program include:

  • A tight-knit community of curious, intelligent, hard-working and supportive peers.
  • Exclusive access to HON 101, HON 201, HON 301, and HON 401 seminars.
  • Unique social and academic events on and off campus.
  • Honors sections of General Education courses.
  • Unique honors experiences within your degree of study.
  • Service opportunities within the Winchester and Northern VA area.
  • Opportunity to apply for small grants for experiential learning experiences
  • Leadership opportunities within the Honors Program.

Starting in Fall 2026, the Honors Program is proud to offer its first-year students a chance to be a part of a residential learning community. You’ll get a chance to live on the same floor with members of your Honors cohort, have access to a shared lounge area, and take part in specialized (and fun!) programming.
