Shenandoah Education Alumni Tapped As Augusta School Administrators

Four out of five recent leadership selections for Augusta County Public Schools hold Shenandoah degrees or certifications

Four of the five people recently recommended for administrative leadership roles in the Augusta County (Virginia) Public Schools are Shenandoah University alumni.

Sarah Melton is recommended to move into a system-level position as curriculum supervisor for music, art and physical education. She was previously a middle school principal, assistant principal, and instructor. Dr. Melton received her Doctor of Education from Shenandoah in 2011.

Matthew Stevens ’05 is recommended to be the next principal of Riverheads High School in Staunton, Virginia. Stevens, who earned a master’s in administration and supervision at Shenandoah, was previously an assistant principal at Riverheads.

Yvonne Howdyshell, who earned a master’s in education administration at Shenandoah in 2007, is recommended to be the next principal of Beverley Manor Middle School in Staunton. Her experience is at the middle and elementary school levels, and she has previously worked as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and teacher.

Vanessa Mundie ’09, who has an administrative certification in administration and supervision from Shenandoah University, is recommended to become the next principal of Wilson Middle School, in Fishersville, Virginia, where she currently serves as assistant principal. She also has experience at the high school and elementary school levels as a teacher, special education teacher, behavior interventionist, career coach and assistant principal.
