Nursing School Adds Articulation Agreements

Partnerships Are With Schools In Virginia And Maryland

Shenandoah’s Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing is joining with two excellent academic programs in a unique way to combat the national nursing shortage.

The Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing has developed an articulation agreement (2+2) program with Richard Bland College (RBC) of William and Mary, which guarantees admission into the nursing program for students who meet all the necessary qualifications. The collaboration provides strong academic planning early in a student’s study, allowing for appropriate course selection to meet the requirements of both schools and ease the transition. Students at RBC, a two-year college located in Petersburg, Virginia, would transfer to Shenandoah after their second year at RBC and become full-time students in the nursing program at Shenandoah.

Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and the Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing have also developed a 3+2.5 collaboration, which allows students from MSMU to double major in a degree of choice from MSMU and nursing from Shenandoah University. Again, by planning early and having strong academic advising, students are prepared to meet the degree requirements for both schools. Admission is guaranteed for students who meet the qualifications. MSMU does not have a nursing program, so this allows students from a rural Maryland school to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
