Murrin Internship Will Enhance Access to Shenandoah, Potomac Rivers

Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN) is launching the PRKN Murrin Shenandoah Internship for communication and outreach, to be filled by a student at Shenandoah University, thanks to a generous gift from Dan Murrin, through the Ernst & Young Foundation.

We are excited to work with a talented undergraduate student from Shenandoah University to expand river access through our RiverPalooza and RioPalooza programs, including the Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Latinx populations throughout the watershed.”

The three entities hope to expand the internship program in the future to additional students and other host organizations that work to protect the environment.

The intern will assist with the organization’s overall mission to protect and ensure the health of the Potomac and Shenandoah watersheds and will primarily focus on Communication and Outreach, especially to underserved and underrepresented populations throughout the watershed. They will work remotely, with the possibility of attending in-person events.

Internships provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills they are learning in the classroom to a real-world and hands-on experience. It also allows students to explore if a field and company are the right fit for them. Students who are interested in Environmental Studies, Communications, or Spanish would be an ideal fit for the PRKN Murrin Shenandoah Internship.”
