Lisko ’19 Provides Audio Support to Major Sports Networks at Super Bowl LV

Joey Lisko ’19 (Bachelor of Music in Music Production & Recording Technology) had a very exciting and exhausting day at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, before and after Super Bowl LV! In addition, prep work also started several weeks before the major event.

Lisko serves as a rental technician at CP Communications, a Florida-based company that provides an array of audio and video gear for CBS, NFL Network and ESPN. He helped with many of the orders going out to each network:

My main tasks were NFL Network audio, CBS audio and CBS communications at the stadium. Lots of wireless/hardwired systems (pre-game/post-game shows, and the game itself), in addition to the integration of Dante with the audio systems wherever possible to ease the transportation of audio data.”

Lisko built the high-powered communication racks that all CBS staff used to communicate with each other all around the stadium, and built a bunch of the RF (radio frequency) audio racks along with the Dante (digital audio network through ethernet) infrastructure. He also built and tested all of the gear that went out to other locations and then also helped with tearing down the day after the big game.

“I wasn’t there during the actual game due to COVID-19 cancellations of other shows, making other staff higher on the totem pole available, but it was still cool to be involved the day after it happened! Top-of-the-line, really cool stuff that I’m grateful to get the opportunity to work with,” Lisko said.

Lisko dreamt of doing audio in the sports broadcasting industry while at Shenandoah, and now his dream has become reality.
