Naumenko Featured in Two 2022 Grammy-nominated Albums

Assistant Professor of Voice (Soprano) Fotina Naumenko, D.M.A., was featured on two albums recently nominated for 2022 Grammy Awards in the category of Best Choral Performance.

Skylark’s “It’s a Long Way” is an exploration of the ensemble’s collective experience during the pandemic and was recorded partly in person and partly in isolation. Some tracks were recorded individually by the 24 singers and edited together, and some were recorded in summer 2021, once vaccinations made singing together safely possible again.

Benedict Sheehan’s new work “Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom” was recorded in 2019, by the Saint Tikhon Choir, the professional ensemble of America’s oldest Orthodox Christian Monastery, located in Waymart, Pennsylvania. The music has an “atmosphere and spirit of radiant, exultant joy” (James Altena, Fanfare Magazine) and has been garnering acclaim since its release in October 2020. “Liturgy” is also included in Blanton Alspaugh’s 2022 nomination for Producer of the Year, Classical.
