Romano ’91 Performs and Teaches Throughout Summer Season

Adjunct Associate Professor of Musicianship Charlene Romano ’91, M.M., performed with John Romano ’91 (Bachelor of Music in Performance – Clarinet), organist Daniel Miller ’79, ’03, ’08 (Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Church Music, Master of Music in Piano Accompanying); vocalists Elizabeth Albert ’00 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre), Noah Wagar ’22 (Master of Music in Conducting); and at the Hunt Country Music Festival in July, on a program featuring American popular music from the 19th century. Romano also performed in the pit orchestra for Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre’s production of “Hello, Dolly!,” alongside a great number of former students in the pit, on the stage and in company leadership. Romano also taught flute masterclasses and a course on extended flute techniques at the Frederick County Band Camp.

This fall, Romano is stepping away from her teaching role in the applied musicianship area, which she continues to coordinate. Romano is opening a second flute teaching studio in Richmond, Virginia, while continuing to teach in her home studio in Winchester.

“It is a humbling opportunity to give back to students in the place where I grew up and first fell in love with performing and teaching,” said Romano. “I am a proud graduate of Henrico County Public Schools, and I look forward to new artistic and educational endeavors in the Richmond area.”
