The United Methodist General Conference is the highest legislative body of the United Methodist Church. Composed of 862 lay and clergy delegates from all over the world, this body typically meets every four years to revise and adapt the denominational policies of The United Methodist Church – though, due to COVID, this will be the first time the General Conference has met in regular session since 2016. This conference, which began on Tuesday, April 23, will be in session until Friday, May 3, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Development and Outreach Ian Urriola will be present in Charlotte and serving as a delegate to this General Conference, and he will hold a Lunch and Learn session on Wednesday, May 8, from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Room 123 (Borden Student Associations Center, aka B-SAC) to cover what exactly happened at this General Conference session and how it impacts our Shenandoah University community (SU is a United Methodist-affiliated university). Lunch will be provided to attendees who register by noon Monday, May 6, using this Google Form. Questions? Contact the Office of Spiritual Life at spirituallife@su.edu.
