Shenandoah Esports Bringing Popular Tournament Back To Myrtle Beach

Boost on the Beach features 12 collegiate teams, provides experiential learning opportunity for SU students

Shenandoah University’s esports program is once again partnering with Syracuse University and Coastal Carolina University to bring the popular Boost on the Beach event back to The Hangout in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on March 7-9.

Competitors and broadcasters during the Boost on the Beach event. This year’s event, held in collaboration with Visit Myrtle Beach, is the third iteration since Shenandoah Esports launched the tournament in 2023. Boost on the Beach has doubled in size since its inaugural event and will feature esports teams from 12 colleges and universities from across the country who will compete in Rocket League for their share of a $5,000 prize pool.

Additionally, Boost on the Beach will host local and regional gamers in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competition that includes a $500 prize pool, and a special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate crew battle will showcase high school competitors.

Shenandoah Esports students will manage the tournament, handling everything from organization, broadcast production and hosting, editing, and casting, giving them valuable hands-on experience working with esports and event management professionals while orchestrating a professional event.

We’re honored by the enthusiastic reception of Boost on the Beach from both the collegiate and regional esports communities. Boost on the Beach was recognized as ‘Event of the Year’ at the 2023 National Association of Collegiate Esports Awards, but more importantly, our students eagerly anticipate returning to Myrtle Beach each year. Our program set out to create a one-of-a-kind esports event that centers on entertainment and the joy of competition. Our students play a key role in bringing this vision to life and continuously work to improve the event experience. This year, we’re introducing new strategic collaborations that will support immersive learning for our students while ensuring a positive, competitive experience for the players.”
