DSO Principal Harpist Emily Levin Offers Insights to Composition Students

Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) principal harpist Emily Levin met with Shenandoah Conservatory’s composition students earlier this month to offer insights on composing effectively for the harp. She read sketches by Stella Bott ’28 (Bachelor of Music in Composition) and Cliff Hernandez ’26 (Bachelor of Music in Composition), demonstrated harp pedaling mechanics and more during her visit. Levin partnered with Director of Guitar Studio and Associate Professor of Guitar Colin Davin, M.M. later that evening to perform as the Davin-Levin Duo in free recital featuring music by Claude Debussy, Leo Brouwer, Jonathan Cziner, Philip Glass, Florence Price and Manuel de Falla.
