Wood ’28 and Robinson ’26 Win Top Prizes at VMTA Concerto Competition

Andrew Wood ’28 (Bachelor of Music in Performance) won first prize and Erik Robinson ’26 (Bachelor of Music in Performance) won second prize at the Virginia Music Teachers Association (VMTA) Concerto Competition. They competed in the Wygal Music Building at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, on Saturday, March 29. Participants had to perform the music from memory and were evaluated in the areas of interpretation and overall artistic effect. Winners from this competition may be invited to perform with orchestral accompaniment or in a separate recital during the annual VMTA Fall Conference. Wood and Robinson study with Distinguished Artist-in-Residence, Chair of Keyboard Division and Professor of Piano John O’Conor, Mus.D.
