Film Screening of “Werckmeister Harmonies”

April 22 @ 7:00 pm

Step into a world of mystery and cinematic mastery on Wednesday, April 22, as the English and film departments host a free screening of “Werckmeister Harmonies” at 7 p.m. at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to explore the intersection of Nobel Prize-winning literature and haunting visual storytelling. Based on the novel by László Krasznahorkai and directed by Béla Tarr, this Hungarian masterpiece follows the arrival of a mysterious circus that sparks a growing madness within a small village. Before the film begins, Professors Jon Udelson Ph.D and Tony Brunner MFA will share insights regarding the original text and the intricacies of Tarr’s adaptation. Admission is free for the first 30 students, and attendance fulfills Beyond the Classroom (BTC) credit. Tickets can be reserved through the Alamo Drafthouse website, and further questions may be directed to judelson@su.edu or abrunner@su.edu
