Night in a Box Fund-Raising

Night in a Box Fund-Raising is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center rotunda; the Night in a Box event is from 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, through 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. For 12 hours on what may be a cold, damp night, students, faculty and staff members will sleep in cardboard boxes in the campus quad. Each may have a T-shirt, shorts, socks, a water bottle and shoes. They can also use pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, etc. except they have to collect money in order to use those items. You can help support the effort in one of two ways: Be a participant, and agree to sleep in a cardboard box for a night, and raise money for your overnight needs. Or, donate money so a participant can enjoy a few creature comforts while sleeping on the ground. All money raised benefits the Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter (WATTS) – local churches that provide shelter for Winchester’s homeless population during the coldest winter months and where Shenandoah students volunteer every year.
