Shenandoah University is ranked 41st among 127 regional universities in the South, according to U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Colleges for 2016.
“Shenandoah prides itself in educating and inspiring graduates who will take what they’ve learned and make a lasting, significant imprint on our world,” said President Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D. “Our recognition as a top 50 institution in the South region is driven by the university’s exemplary faculty and staff members, who, day in and day out, commit to providing the best education and atmosphere possible for our students.”
The rankings, now in their 31st year, were announced today and will also be published in the “Best Colleges 2016” guidebook, which can be pre-ordered here and will be available for sale via Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other retail outlets later this month.
This year, Shenandoah increased its graduation rate by ten percent and, for the third year in a row, narrowed the gap between its predicted and actual graduation rate. The university also increased its average freshman retention rate.
Shenandoah is currently ranked #16 for its Physician Assistant Studies program, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate School rankings.
“At the heart of our institution is a close-knit and caring community of individuals who challenge and support each other in their academic and professional endeavors,” said Dr. Fitzsimmons. “We know that when our graduates transition into the real world, the critical thinking they have done and the lifelong learners they have become will reflect the value of their Shenandoah education.”
A total of 618 universities are included in the best regional universities segment of U.S. News’ college rankings. Institutions in this category provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs, but few, if any, doctoral programs. Schools in the regional section are ranked within four geographic areas – North, South, Midwest and West.
