Shenandoah Conservatory is pleased to announce its first ever Jazz Soloist Competition! High school students from across the nation are invited to submit video recordings to compete for scholarships, cash prizes and a chance to perform with The U.S. Army Blues, one of the nation’s finest jazz ensembles, at Shenandoah Conservatory on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015.
Four finalists will be selected by a panel of Shenandoah Conservatory faculty judges and invited to Shenandoah’s main campus to perform with a live, professional rhythm section before a panel of judges on Oct. 24, 2015. A first and second prize winner will be selected during that performance.
All contestants will be invited to attend an exciting Improvisation Clinic and attend the finalist round, as well as enjoy The U.S. Army Blues concert at Shenandoah Conservatory on Oct. 24, 2015!
Prizes
First Prize
- $300 cash prize
- Minimum $5,000 Conservatory Award to Shenandoah Conservatory for incoming freshman and transfer students (pending a successful audition and full acceptance to Shenandoah Conservatory and Shenandoah University)
- Performance as featured soloist with The U.S. Army Blues on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Shenandoah Conservatory
Second Prize
- $100 cash prize
- Minimum $2,500 Conservatory Award to Shenandoah Conservatory for incoming freshman and transfer students (pending a successful audition and full acceptance to Shenandoah Conservatory and Shenandoah University)
Please note that applications and video recordings must be RECEIVED by Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 in order to be considered. Finalists will be announced on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015.
