High school flute students are invited to apply for the third annual National Flute Workshop at Shenandoah Conservatory. The workshop, led by internationally renowned Shenandoah Conservatory Professor of Flute Jonathan Snowden, A.G.S.M., and Rebecca Turchi Collaros, M.M., professor of flute at Levine Music, will be held from Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15.
The workshop for students ages 13 through 18 will feature private lessons, masterclasses, small ensembles and other activities to improve the students’ knowledge and abilities as musicians. Flute faculty and counselors will help students of all levels, and participants will experience college life first-hand for five days along with other students who share similar interests.
The National Flute Workshop offers intensive musical training on flute and will build students’ confidence both musically and personally. Students will perform daily, focus on building good fundamentals and learn to play musically within a chamber group.
Students will experience world-class training on one of two levels. Level 1, the Beginning to Intermediate High School Level, is taught by Professor Collaros and Level 2, the Advanced High School Level, is taught by Professor Snowden. No audition is required, but an onsite demonstration of playing will occur in order to properly place participants into chamber groupings.
