New Director Named of Applied Behavior Analysis Program

Vicky Spencer Brings Global Higher Education Experience to Shenandoah

Vicky Spencer, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is the new program director for Shenandoah University’s Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis program. Her higher education experience extends across the globe. She’s held positions at Dar Al-Hekma University in Saudi Arabia, Bay Path University in Massachusetts, George Mason University, Sam Houston State University, and Johns Hopkins University before joining Shenandoah University.

I’m so pleased to be a part of the Shenandoah University community. I look forward to growing the Applied Behavior Analysis program, preparing our students as future board-certified behavior analysts and collaborating with my new colleagues across this beautiful campus.”

Vicky Spencer, Ph.D.

Dr. Spencer brings more than 25 years of experience to her new post. She taught in public schools, owned a private practice, worked with the Training and Technical Assistance Center for the Virginia Department of Education, and served as a Fulbright Scholar in Barbados. Recently, she served as president of the Division of International Special Education & Services (DISES), which is a division of the Council for Exceptional Children that promotes international communication, cooperation and progress in education and services for children who have disabilities and/or gifts and talents.

Students in Shenandoah’s Applied Behavior Analysis degree program will benefit from Spencer’s breadth of practical knowledge because of the program’s focus on hands-on experience with a variety of populations. It is also designed to accommodate the working professional, with courses scheduled on weekday evenings via a hybrid format combining face-to-face and online meetings.
