Shenandoah Film Studio Holds Virginia Emerging Filmmakers Festival

Festival Takes Place This Weekend at The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

Shenandoah University is holding its inaugural Virginia Emerging Filmmakers Festival this weekend.

The festival is presented in association with the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester.

Join us Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Over 75 short films were submitted by high school and college students from around the U.S., including several from Shenandoah students. Forty-two films made it into the festival for final judging by the elite panel of judges. 

filmThe festival will show short films from current high school and college students. Films will be 15 minutes or less. Film categories include:

  • animation
  • comedy/drama
  • horror
  • documentary
  • music video

Films were selected by a group of filmmakers and Shenandoah University faculty and were reviewed by guest judges:

Filmmakers will have a chance to network and compete for prizes, including an $8,000 scholarship to Shenandoah University.

Tickets for this event are a donation and are currently being accepted. Patrons can choose to donate $1, $3 or $5, and all proceeds will be given to Shenandoah University’s film studies program
