Students in the Psychology of Music (MUTH 331) class presented research posters on the development of musical preference in the Ruebush Hall hallway on Monday, April 8. The students worked diligently throughout the semester to explore the topic of musical preference. Using preferred music in music therapy sessions is a principle that underscores most clinical practice within the field of music therapy. Investigating the factors that impact individual music preference is therefore of particular relevance. From asking questions of curiosity, students went through the process of honing research questions based on existing research, determining methods for inquiry, collecting and analyzing data, and synthesizing their results into points of discussion and recommendations for future work toward this topic. They synthesized the process in poster form and presented these while engaging students and faculty as they passed through the hallway.
