Niess Hosts NJW Workshops, Performs and Records Throughout Summer

Director of Brass Studies and Trombone Artist-in-Residence Matt Niess, D.M.A., directed two sessions at the National Jazz Workshop (NJW) this summer, which took place on the campus of George Mason University and Shenandoah University. This spring and summer, he directed the NJW alumni band which performed at Jammin’ Java, the Chantilly Jazz Festival and both NJWs. Dr. Niess also performed at the DC Trombone Workshop at George Washington University with The Capitol Bones and recorded a CD with the group as well this summer.
