Carson Awarded Exemplary Teacher Award During Spring 2020 Full Faculty Meeting

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Jazz Dance Tiffanie Carson, M.F.A., was awarded the Exemplary Teacher Award during the Shenandoah University full faculty meeting on May 22, 2020. It is annually presented by the General Board of Higher Education, Ministry of the United Methodist Church and Shenandoah University. Nominations are solicited from the university community and are reviewed by faculty, staff and students. The award is given to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching, supports student growth and achievement inside and outside of the classroom, and contributes to the Shenandoah University community.

Ever since my first year in 2013 I’ve always strived for this award but never thought I’d actually get it, especially when I chose to switch from full time to part time in 2017. I was shocked and in tears when I saw my name and photo on the screen. I feel so incredibly honored. I’m so appreciative of Erica Helm, who hired and mentored me, Dr. Ting-Yu Chen for guiding me and all the other SU faculty and colleagues from all around that have supported my journey. And certainly last but not least MY STUDENTS!!! Without you I would never be the educator and mentor I continuously strive to be. THANK YOU. I’m so grateful for the past seven years at Shenandoah University Shenandoah Conservatory.
