Shenandoah’s Music Master’s Degree Programs Receive National Recognition

Master of Music Education First in Intelligent.com Rankings

Shenandoah University’s music master’s degree programs are ranked third in Intelligent.com’s list of top 50 master’s in music degree programs in the U.S. for 2021. The university’s composite score is 96.05 on a scale of 100.

Shenandoah beat out the Juilliard School, Oberlin College and Conservatory, and San Francisco Conservatory of Music, among others.

Shenandoah also received an accolade for its Master of Music Education program, which Intelligent.com ranks as the best master of music education degree program in the U.S. Shenandoah’s Master of Music Education program is intended for practicing music educators and includes study in pedagogy, scholarship and musicianship. It is a three-summer program for PK-12 music educators.

Intelligent.com is an online degree ranking and higher education planning website. It evaluated music degree programs based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, post-graduate employment, flexibility, faculty, course strength and cost.

The 2021 rankings are calculated through a unique scoring system, which includes student engagement, potential return on investment and leading third-party evaluations, according to Intelligent.com. Schools were scored on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 50 of the 162 schools assessed making it to the final list.
