Pritchard Wins State Pharmacy Award

Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy Faculty Member Is VPhA’s 2021 Distinguished Young Pharmacist

Shenandoah University Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice Iain Pritchard, Pharm.D., has received the 2021 Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award from the Virginia Pharmacists Association (VPhA).

This award recognizes individual excellence and outstanding contributions to pharmacy associations and communities by new practitioners. Recipients are chosen by state pharmacy associations across the country to receive this prestigious award, which is proudly sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual,” according to the Virginia Pharmacists Association website. The award was officially conferred during the VPhA’s 140th Annual Convention, which occurred virtually Aug. 13-14.

“I was very surprised and honored that my colleagues would have nominated me for this award,” said Dr. Pritchard. “It means a great deal that our collaborative effort to improve pharmacy practice at Shenandoah is being recognized through a service-oriented mentality. I would not have been able to receive this honor without the support of my colleagues.”

Pritchard, who earned the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy’s Eugene V. White Outstanding Service Faculty Award in the 2017-18 and 2020-21 academic years and its P3 Class Teacher of the Year in the 2017-18 academic year, said his goals as a pharmacy educator and pharmacist are “to provide inspiration to students and patients so that together we can improve the health of all.”
