Naumenko Participates in Performances Celebrating Arvo Pärt at Metropolitan Museum of Art

Assistant Professor of Voice (Soprano) Fotina Naumenko, D.M.A., performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City as part of the MetLiveArts series on Sunday, Oct. 31 and Monday, Nov. 1. The concerts were dedicated to the music of celebrated Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who is one of the most widely performed contemporary composers in the world today. Performances took place in the Temple of Dendur, a 15th-century B.C. Egyptian temple that has been displayed at the Met Museum since the 1970s. The highlight of the program was the world premiere of “O Holy Father Nicholas,” a piece commissioned to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, on which she sang as a soloist and ensemble member. Artefact Ensemble and the Experiential Orchestra were featured in the concerts. Visit www.metmuseum.org to learn more and view the program.

“Arvo Pärt’s music transports listeners to another world in its meditative, minimalistic style, and it was an honor to be a part of bringing his latest piece to life,” said Naumenko.
