Research by Meyer Honored with Journal and Grant Awards

Director of the Janette Ogg Voice Research Center and Associate Professor of Voice (Baritone) and Vocal Pedagogy David Meyer, D.M., co-authored 8 scientific journal articles in 2020 and 2021. His Journal of Voice publication, “Safer Singing During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic: What We Know and What We Don’t,” received the award for the Journal’s Best Clinical Medicine Paper of 2021. It has been cited 42 times (to date) and was one of a record number of Journal of Voice manuscript submissions in 2021.

Meyer was also recently awarded an International Exchanges Grant from the Royal Society in London. This competitive grant supports his ongoing research in hybrid CT-MRI modeled vocal tracts, a multi-site collaboration with Dr. David Howard of Royal Holloway College of London, and faculty of the Engineering and Medical Schools of the University of Iowa.
