Float The Shenandoah River On a Canoe Trip With SOAR

Join Shenandoah Outdoor and Adventure Recreation (SOAR) on a canoe trip down the Shenandoah River on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This 6-mile stretch of the river, which runs from Lockes Landing in Clarke County to the Shenandoah River Campus at Cool Spring Battlefield, is mostly flat water with a Class I rapid and several riffles. Wildlife abounds throughout – you may see various water birds, eagles and river bass. River birches, silver maples and sycamores line the shore. Bring your own lunch and drinking water. Sign up to participate at shenandoah.shopsite.com/main/trips.html; the cost is $10. Questions? Contact suoutdoors@su.edu.
