Celebrate Apple Blossom at Shenandoah!

Get ready to wear your pink and green – it’s Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival season in Winchester! And that means that while an array of festivities will occur throughout the area through the first weekend in May, you’ll also find plenty of home-grown events that’ll help you celebrate Shenandoah-style! 

Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 | Downtown Winchester 

Enter for your chance to win a pair of tickets to the Bloomin’ Wine Fest via this Google Form. Two lucky winners will each receive tickets for both the Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27 events. Don’t miss your chance to attend the fun-filled festival! Check-in at the event includes age verification via ID scanning. This contest closes on April 15, at 11:59 p.m. and is only open to graduate students.

Wednesday, April 3-Friday, April 26  

Ready to get in the Apple Blossom spirit? Get out the pink and green and decorate the door of your room, office, cubicle wall, or even your home for our commuter students! Post your submission on Instagram using the hashtag #ShenUBlooms and tag @sustudentlife and @shenandoahreslife to enter the contest. Use #undergraduate, #graduate, or #facultystaff and the winner of each category will win a $50 gift card. Submissions close Friday, April 26. Winners will be announced on Monday, April 29. Questions? Monday, April 29 | 3 p.m. | Brandt Student Center, Parking Lot 

Have you ever wanted to play Mario Kart in real life? The Office of Residence Life, Shenandoah Esports, and the Counseling Center have a fun opportunity for you! On Monday, April 29, at 3 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center parking lot, join an IRL Mario Kart Race and raise money for the Concern Hotline. 

Get ready to throw some banana peels and toss those turtle shells (water balloons), just like the game! The event includes heat races on Razor DXT Drift Trikes (provided), where participants compete for the fastest heat time while managing to escape obstacles. The event will also feature a Mario Kart character costume contest open to the campus community. Cash prizes are offered to the winners. Race participants are asked to donate $5 and spectators will be encouraged to give $1 donation at the door. Registrants who donate $25 can throw obstacles (space limited). Get ready to add apple blossom color to your wardrobe with the Campus Activities Network’s tie dye event! Join CAN on May 2, from 4-6 p.m. at Sarah’s Glen for tie-dyeing. And the best part? CAN is giving away free T-shirts to all participants! Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to create your unique tie-dye designs and take home a free T-shirt. Bring your friends and make it a great day to be a Hornet. 

Thursday, May 2 | 9 p.m. | Brightbox

Lipsync honors the memory of Ira Lindberg Harris. Ira was a Shenandoah musical theatre graduate who was taken from this world far too soon. His joy and heart is celebrated every year through this event and the Ira Lindberg Harris scholarship, which helps make the joy of an arts education possible through financial assistance to a Shenandoah Conservatory musical theatre student. Students across campus can sign up to participate as a drag king, queen, or monarch and the campus and local Winchester community are invited to celebrate with Alpha Psi Omega, cheering on these monarchs as they Lipsync on Thursday, May 2 at 9:30 p.m. at Bright Box (15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester, VA)! VIPs only at 8:30 p.m.; seating is from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Questions? Contact: alphapsiomega.shenandoah@gmail.com

Friday, May 3 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Brandt Student Center Parking Lot

Are you looking for a fun and exciting way to spend your weekend? Look no further than Blossom Bash on May 3, in the Brandt Student Center Parking Lot. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with live music, food trucks, a cornhole tournament, a petting zoo, and plenty of activities for all to enjoy. 

Whether you’re a student or faculty member, there’s something for everyone at Blossom Bash. Mark your calendars and get ready to join in the fun!

The Cornhole tournament is being hosted by the Mosaic Center in support of A.R.E. Winchester! There will be a $10 team entry fee to join and you must arrive in teams of 2. There will be a prize of 2 $25 Visa Gift Cards for the tournament winners. The deadline to sign up for this event is April 30.
