Taylor White ’20, from SU Mass Communications to the NBA G League

Taylor White '20

Taylor White ’20 has always believed in the power of a well‑told story and now she’s bringing that passion to the professional sports world as the director of marketing for the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets.

White joins the Swarm after five years at the University of Virginia (UVA), where she earned three promotions while supporting football, women’s basketball, and all 27 varsity sports. Her work helped shape UVA Athletics’ brand identity, elevate fan engagement, and strengthen digital storytelling across one of the nation’s premier collegiate athletics programs.

White also serves as an adjunct professor at Shenandoah University (SU), teaching in the same program where her own journey began. She graduated from SU in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in mass communications, a degree that laid the foundation for her career. She later earned her master’s degree in sports media and storytelling from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, further sharpening her craft.

Shenandoah helped me find my passion for sports storytelling and gave me opportunities and the confidence to pursue it as a career. The relationships and experiences I gained at SU continue to influence how I lead and approach my career today,” she said.

White’s connection to Shenandoah remains strong. In addition to teaching, she proudly serves on the Alumni Board of Directors, helping shape the future of alumni engagement and supporting the next generation of Hornets.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve on the alumni board and give back to a university that has played such an important role in my journey.”
