The Identification Card (ID) is your official university identification. You will need to carry it with you at all times on campus and be presented upon request to university officials. The card is non-transferable. By using this card, you agree to all terms and conditions in effect at the time of its use. You are responsible for bringing your ID back with you each semester. Your ID is the property of Shenandoah University and will be given to the Student Affairs office upon request or withdrawal from the university.
Identification cards are issued during orientation for new students. If you do not receive your card during this time, you will need to go to the Campus Services Office on the second floor of Cooley Hall (Room 208). The office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Currently, the ID is used to gain access to residence halls, all university operated dining locations and select local restaurants participating in the Off-Campus dining dollars program.
Hornet Dollars – Additional monies for food can be added to an ID. The money will be set up on your card as a declining balance and can be used in any of the Aramark operated dining locations on campus and select local restaurants participating in the Flex Dollar program. Any balance remaining will transfer to the next semester or school year.
There are three easy ways to add additional money for food:
Online at: eAccounts (Note: Monies added from this website are Hornet dollars for food and carry from semester to semester).
In person at Hornet Central located in the Wilkins Administration Building.
Call Hornet Central at 540-665-4514 to make a payment with a credit card.
Residence Halls – Residence halls will be locked around the clock, seven days a week throughout the semester. Students will need to use their ID to gain access through the main entrance of their residence hall. Simply press your ID against the card reader and the door will unlock. If you do not have your ID with you, you must call the resident assistant on duty or Campus Safety at 540.678.4444. Remember: Do not prop doors open or use the side doors, they are alarmed.
Dining Hall – Students who have paid for a meal plan must present their ID to the dining room attendant for access to food service. Your card will be passed through the card reader and the meal deducted from your meal plan allowance.
Library – Students, faculty, and staff will need to present their ID to check-out books and other materials from the library on main campus as well as the Health Professions library.
Lost cards should be reported immediately to the Auxiliary Services Office. To receive a new ID card, visit Campus Services on the second floor of Cooley Hall.
