The Shenandoah University Buzzin’ Dozen Pep Band as we know it today was formed in 2008. Its first student director, Eric Price, began building the program using somewhat limited resources. His extraordinary dedication meant the program grew rapidly through 2008-09.
The Shenandoah University Buzzin’ Dozen Pep Band is a unique organization, with an ability to generate great publicity for the university, to motivate and inspire the student body, and to continue to foster a spirit of community and family within the band, the university and the surrounding community. The Pep Band is responsible for supporting events on and off campus in a fun, motivating, and peppy way.
The pep band received very positive reviews for their numerous performances including those at the ODAC announcement ceremony, the Shenandoah University logo roll-out ceremony, the Wilkins Athletics and Events Center Gala, and as an auxiliary unit of the Shenandoah University float in the Apple Blossom Festival Grand Feature Parade. While the PepBand’s style is more jovial and light hearted than the Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra and the Shenandoah Wind Ensemble, the Band and it’s leaders are obligated to protect the image and reputation by performing at a high caliber at all times.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Buzzin’ Dozen Pep Band. The Band is led by its sixth director, Libby Beller ’19, a clarinet performance and mathematics double major.
