Staff Council will host a Staff Professional Development Afternoon on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 2-4 p.m. in the Hazel-Pruitt Armory, Collaboratory with a virtual option available via Zoom. The session will focus on professional growth, workplace well-being and connection across departments. Guest speaker Aaron Blight will deliver a keynote titled “Care for Others, Care for Yourself,” followed by activities centered on self-care, balance and boundaries. Jennifer Reid from the Counseling Center will also lead a brief guided meditation. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to write with. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Stop by the tables set up around campus from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16, to chat with Shenandoah University staff. They’re here to help during your first days of the semester, whether you need directions, have questions about classes, or want to learn more about the university. Tables will be located in the Brandt Student Center hallway, Halpin-Harrison Hall near the elevator, Henkel Hall lobby, and inside the Pruitt Health and Life Sciences Building.

The Trial Advocacy and Mock Trial Program will kick off the spring semester with a brief demonstration on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 12:30-1 p.m. in Henkel Hall, Hester Auditorium. The demonstration will feature opening statements and witness testimony from a simulated homicide case. The session will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m., when the judge takes the bench. The event will be presided over by Jeffrey L. Harding, Esq., J.D., instructor for the Trial Advocacy/Mock Trial Program and coach of the Shenandoah University National Mock Trial Team.
