B.A. in Philosophy: Ethics and Public Policy, University of Northern Colorado

Hometown: Beaverton, Oregon and Aurora, Colorado.

My favorite spots around SU: Old Town Winchester is always a blast; I’m particularly fond of Union Square’s oysters. Being nestled in the Shenandoah Valley between the Appalachian and Blue Ridge ranges, there is easy access to nature! I recommend taking advantage of all four seasons by exploring Shenandoah National Park, hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail, cross-country skiing, freshwater fishing, and more!

What makes SU special to me: Small universities lend themselves to tight-knit communities, and SU is no exception! There is such a deep value in being able to make lasting connections with your peers and faculty—connections that lead to future opportunities you wouldn’t get otherwise.

My advice: While every school is unique, lots of things are the same across universities. Be sure to identify what really makes a school stand out and take some time to discern which facets you value most. The local community and your program faculty may be what help you make that final decision!

My hobbies: Downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking, reading, colleague journaling, embroidery, and Pinterest DIYs.
