Theatre Students Attend Q&A with Associate Director of Dublin’s Abbey Theatre, Caitríona McLaughlin

Shenandoah Conservatory hosted Associate Director of Dublin’s Abbey Theatre, Caitríona McLaughlin, for a Q&A with theatre students on Friday, Feb. 16, in Glaize Studio Theatre. McLaughlin visited Winchester to direct The Abbey’s U.S. premiere of “Two Pints,” which was presented Feb. 13, through Feb. 17, in the Backroom Pub at Brewbaker’s Restaurant in Old Town Winchester.

McLaughlin has worked with Shenandoah Conservatory Director of Acting and Associate Professor of Theatre Scott Hudson, M.F.A., and Visiting Associate Professor of Theatre Martha Wollner, M.A., during several of LAByrinth Theatre’s Summer Intensives, developing and creating original works with the LAByrinth company. She has most recently directed “On Raftery’s Hill” by Marina Carr for which she has been nominated as ITTA Best Director at the Foyle Punt Errigal Arts Festival in Ireland. Over the last few years she has directed in London, Dublin, Derry and New York. Directing work includes “Josephine K and the Algorithms” by Stacey Gregg and “Two Pints” by Roddy Doyle for the Abbey Theatre; the inaugural play by Kevin Barry, “Autumn Royal”; Vaughan Williams’ “Opera Riders to the Sea,” for Wexford Opera Festival, 2016, “Trucker,” “Shenoah Allen” and “Opera Briefs” for RIAM, “Scipio’s Dream” by Judith Weir and “Il Ballo delle Ingrate,” Monteverdi.
