Dance Performs and Participates in 2019 Mid-Atlantic South Regional Conference of the ACDA

Members of the Shenandoah Conservatory Dance Division traveled to Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, during spring break to participate in the 2019 Mid-Atlantic South Regional Conference of the American College Dance Association (ACDA). During the four-day conference, dancers participated in many masterclasses and workshops with highly respected dance educators and creative artists, and presented three works from the division’s current repertoire:

Shenandoah Conservatory dancers received highly complimentary feedback from a panel of three internationally recognized artist adjudicators, who recognized the excellence in their technique as well as the passion and artistry of their performances. Pavelko’s “I Survived Myself” was highly praised for its exceptional compositional craftsmanship as well as the cast’s exquisite performance, and selected for a second performance in the conference’s closing night gala concert.

ACDA had an everlasting impact on me and my dancers. Having my work chosen by three adjudicators to perform in the closing night gala performance was an opportunity that allowed me to show and promote my work, as well as network with working professionals in the dance industry.”

ACDA was super impactful because of the level of professionalism. It was an amazing experience to perform in front of three great artists, receive their feedback and continue to work on ourselves as young professionals.”
