Puckett’s ’99 ‘The Fix’ Premieres with Minnesota Opera

Joel Puckett ’99 (Bachelor of Music in Composition) was commissioned by the Minnesota Opera as part of its New Works Initiative to write a full-length opera for its 2018/19 season. The opera premiered this month. “The Fix” is based on the notorious World Series scandal of 1919, featuring legendary figures such as Shoeless Joe Jackson, Ring Lardner, and Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. The Minnesota Opera was also awarded a $50,000 National Endowment of the Arts grant to support the world premiere on March 16, and future performances.
