Pharmacy Research Showcased in Print; School Offers VR Experience for potential students

A research article by Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Administration Sean Hyungwoo Kim, Pharm.D., and pharmacy student Connor McKay ’20, “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Pharmacist-Led Transitions of Care Services on the 30-Day All-Cause Readmission Rate of Patients with Congestive Heart Failure,” was published in the Clinical Drug Investigation journal in May.

A research poster by Dr. Kim and pharmacy student Sama Alabbas ’20 was selected as an International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research 2019 Annual Meeting Research Presentation Award finalist. The poster title is “Associating Hyperlipidemia, a Modifiable Health Condition, and Concurrent Comorbidities to Health-Related Quality of Life.”

The School of Pharmacy admissions team showed off a new virtual reality (VR) app as part of an exhibit at the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, in June. The app introduces high school students interested in the health professions to the many career options for pharmacists. The VR app was developed at Shenandoah by the Shenandoah Center for Immersive Learning

Pharmacy School Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Professor of Biopharmaceutical Sciences Gina Peacock, Ph.D.; Pharmacy Director of Recruitment and Admissions and Lecturer of Pharmacy Practice Katie Sanders ’11, Pharm.D.; and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice Katerina Petrov, Pharm.D., presented their poster on “Making Virtual Reality to Recruit the Next Generation of Pharmacists” at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy annual meeting in Chicago in July.
