Romano ’91 Assumes Role as Assistant Secretary of NFA and Furthers Training and Certification with College Board

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Theory Charlene Romano ’91, M.M., assumed her elected role as assistant secretary of the National Flute Association (NFA) earlier than anticipated, at the request of the NFA’s executive board. Romano will serve for one year as the assistant secretary before assuming the role of secretary of the NFA.

In June, Romano participated in the College Board’s Advanced Placement Music Theory Reading. She received grader training and a certification from the College Board in the areas of assessing analysis, part-writing and sight singing, and participated in grading the part-writing and analysis portion of the AP Music Theory Test.

During Virginia’s stay-at-home and other phases of re-opening, Romano continued her work as a service musician at Bethel Lutheran Church in livestreamed and pre-recorded virtual services. She also moved her home flute studio online and added private online instruction in music theory to her offerings.
